Together We Make a Difference

Thursday, June 22, 2023

This year marked our 10th anniversary of Radiothon. In partnership with the Eagle 100.9 FM, after 12 hours of live broadcasts highlighting health & wellness initiatives, we didn't just meet our goal of $75,000, we surpassed it and raised $82,722.95.

Because of the generosity of our sponsors and the community,

we were able to fund eight organizations and nine projects:

  • Okotoks Family Resource Centre - Volunteer Driver & Emergency Support Programs

  • ORENDA Society - Boys "Move Your Mood Summit"

  • Solace Grief Support - Grief Counselling

  • Foothills Family Medical Centre - Derm Desiccator/                   (2) 24hr Blood Pressure Monitors

  • Foothills Community Counselling - Counselling Services

  • It Takes a Village - "Baby Sleep Safe" Program

  • Helping Families Handle Cancer - Support

  • Inclusion Foothills - Go "Team Gen Z"

It's the 10th Anniversary of
Photos with Santa!

Nov. 18 - Dec. 14, 2023

The Sheep River Health Trusts’ Photos with Santa have become a beloved holiday tradition here in the Foothills, sparking joy and wonder in children and their families with each visit to Santa’s village.

Located at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn and Suites, children and their families are invited to interact with Santa during their private family photo session. Sessions are $55 per family and must be pre-booked. Following their visit, each family will receive a link and unique gallery code to download all their images on the personal device(s) of their choice.

Last year’s Photos with Santa event was a HUGE success, with more than 790 families visiting Santa’s village together we raised over $27,000 for the Sheep River Health Trust. Our team, volunteers, and photographers are looking forward to greeting families during this magical experience and are beyond grateful for the ongoing support.

Tickets for Photos with Santa go on sale on Oct. 2 at 10am.

Avenue of Trees

Nov. 17 - Dec. 17, 2023

We invite you to join us for this holiday tradition, where you will be welcomed by the warm feeling of the holiday season at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn and Suites. Many fully decorated trees will light up the hotel lobby, breakfast room, and ballroom. This event is hosted at no charge to guests.

During your visit, you can choose to view the spectacle of trees, as well as place a bid on the selection of auctioned trees generously donated by local businesses and residents. Proceeds raised from the Avenue of Trees auction deliver essential resources and funds directly into our rural healthcare system, supporting health and wellness programs and projects for residents of all ages.

We have raised over $26,000 thanks to all the incredible support from the many community champions.

Trees of Hope

Every year, some of the fully decorated trees on display are designated as Trees of Hope and are donated to those in need of a Christmas Tree.

As a Tree of Hope Sponsor, you are sponsoring a tree to be delivered to a family who would otherwise not have a Christmas tree. The funds from sponsorship come back to the Sheep River Health Trust.

The difference between the Trees of Hope and the trees included in the auction, essentially, are who receives the tree.

To donate to a Tree of Hope go to:

Last day to nominate a family/individual is Tues. Dec. 12, 2023.

Big Hug Sheep River Health Trust

Leave your legacy

We extend our condolences to you and your family during this time of loss. When you lose a loved one, it may seem that no gesture is adequate to show how much that person means to you.

Making a memorial donation is an opportunity to pay tribute to someone who touched your life in a significant way.

Thoughtful donors’ names and addresses will be provided to the family contact but amounts will not be revealed.

Setting up memorial contributions with the Sheep River Health Trust is quick and easy

Please notify us of the following  by phone, email or mail:
– Your Loved one’s full name.
– Full name and address of the family contact for us to send notifications to as we begin to receive donations in your loved one’s name.
– The specific fund to which you wish the gift to be applied.

People who own stocks, bonds, or mutual funds are happy when their investments increase. Unfortunately, when you convert your investment to cash, the capital gain is taxable. By directly donating your publicly listed securities to the Sheep River Health Trust, you will pay no capital gains tax on their increase in value.

The Trust will provide you with a charitable tax receipt for the full market value on the day
they are received in our account. This tax receipt:

– will help you immediately reduce the amount of tax you pay on your income

– may be carried forward if your donation exceeds your annual limit and used in any of the next five years

– may help reduce the taxes on your estate in the year of your death – and allow more of your estate to go to your beneficiaries
