Fundraising Activities
The Sheep River Health Trust and its valued partners organize regular fundraising events to develop and improve health and wellness in the Foothills. Participating in one or more events is a unique way to make a difference, and to work with a team on behalf of the community.
You can get involved in various ways: as an organizer, a volunteer, a participant, a donor, or a sponsor. The success of any event depends on teamwork.

Photos with Santa
The Sheep River Health Trusts’ Photos with Santa have become a beloved holiday tradition here in the Foothills, sparking joy and wonder in children and their families with each visit to Santa’s village.
Located at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn and Suites, children and their families are invited to interact with Santa during their private family photo session. Sessions are $55 per family and must be pre-booked. Following their visit, each family will receive a link and unique gallery code to download all their images on the personal device(s) of their choice.
Last year’s Photos with Santa event was a HUGE success, with more than 790 families visiting Santa’s village together we raised over $27,000 for the Sheep River Health Trust. Our team, volunteers, and photographers are looking forward to greeting families during this magical experience and are beyond grateful for the ongoing support.

Avenue of Trees
We invite you to join us for this holiday tradition, where you will be welcomed by the warm feeling of the holiday season at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn and Suites. Many fully decorated trees will light up the hotel lobby, breakfast room, and ballroom. This event is hosted at no charge to guests.
During your visit, you can choose to view the spectacle of trees, as well as place a bid on the selection of auctioned trees generously donated by local businesses and residents. Proceeds raised from the Avenue of Trees auction deliver essential resources and funds directly into our rural healthcare system, supporting health and wellness programs and projects for residents of all ages.
In 2021 we raised over $26,000 thanks to all the incredible support from the many community champions.
Trees of Hope

Families selected to receive a Tree of Hope will have their tree delivered on December 18th between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. There must be someone home during these hours to accept the tree.

Leave your legacy
Memorial
We extend our condolences to you and your family during this time of loss. When you lose a loved one, it may seem that no gesture is adequate to show how much that person means to you.
Making a memorial donation is an opportunity to pay tribute to someone who touched your life in a significant way.
Thoughtful donors’ names and addresses will be provided to the family contact but amounts will not be revealed.
Setting up memorial contributions with the Sheep River Health Trust is quick and easy
Please notify us of the following by phone, email or mail:
– Your Loved one’s full name.
– Full name and address of the family contact for us to send notifications to as we begin to receive donations in your loved one’s name.
– The specific fund to which you wish the gift to be applied.
Securities
People who own stocks, bonds, or mutual funds are happy when their investments increase. Unfortunately, when you convert your investment to cash, the capital gain is taxable. By directly donating your publicly listed securities to the Sheep River Health Trust, you will pay no capital gains tax on their increase in value.
The Trust will provide you with a charitable tax receipt for the full market value on the day
they are received in our account. This tax receipt:
– will help you immediately reduce the amount of tax you pay on your income
– may be carried forward if your donation exceeds your annual limit and used in any of the next five years
– may help reduce the taxes on your estate in the year of your death – and allow more of your estate to go to your beneficiaries
